Worth writing about
- A number here is wrong. This is the most useful email you can send. Figures on these pages end up in real negotiations, so an error costs somebody money — say which page and what you expected, and it gets fixed and noted.
- A hallmark that is not in the reference. The mark list covers the common ones and there are many more. If you have hit one it does not know, tell us what it is.
- A tool that should exist and does not. Particularly if it is something you went looking for and could not find anywhere honest.
- Something reads as advice. The site is held to six rules, and one of them is that it never tells you what to do with your property. If a sentence crosses that line, it is a bug.
Two things we genuinely cannot do
Value your jewellery
Not from photographs, not from a description, and not as a favour. A valuation means having the piece in hand, testing the metal and assessing the stones — and a guess sent by email would be worth nothing while looking authoritative, which is the exact thing this site exists to argue against. For anything that might be worth more than its metal, see a qualified appraiser who is not also offering to buy it.
Buy it, or tell you who will
We do not buy, sell, broker or refer, and we do not keep a list of buyers. That is deliberate: the moment this site earns anything from a sale, every payout percentage on it becomes suspect. The published ranges are there so you can judge an offer yourself.
Press and licensing
Figures and charts from this site may be quoted with a link back. If you want to embed a tool, or use the data behind one, write and ask — the answer is usually yes.
Who runs it
Jewelers Gallery is an independent reference site, not a jeweller or a dealer, and not connected with any business trading under a similar name. More about the reasoning behind it is on the about page, and the workings are set out in how the numbers work.
